Hydroponics plant care: simple tips to keep your farm, not just Ekoro, in top shape 🌿
Share
One of the best things about hydroponics is that the plants largely take care of themselves – they have water, nutrients, and light. But to keep everything running smoothly, you just need to follow a few simple rules.
1️⃣ Refill water regularly
Plants drink more than you might think. With the Ekoro system, you only need to check the water level once or twice a week. If the water is running low, simply top it up and occasionally add a little nutrient solution.
💡 Tip: Use settled or filtered water. Tap water with high chlorine content can slow down plant growth a bit.
2️⃣ Pay attention to the light
Ekoro has built-in LED lighting, so plants get light even during the short winter days. However, it helps if you place it near natural light – for example, near a window.
If you notice that the plants are "pulling" for light, simply rotate them or extend the lighting time by a few hours a day.
3️⃣ Keep it clean
Every few weeks we recommend cleaning the entire system – pouring out the old water, washing the tank and rinsing the baskets. It only takes a few minutes, but it will go a long way in preventing algae and mineral build-up.
4️⃣ Trim plants regularly
Plants often grow faster in hydroponics than in soil. Don't be afraid to prune them regularly - this encourages further growth and keeps the system tidy. This way, basil, mint or lettuce will last longer and keep growing again.
5️⃣ Experiment
One of the biggest advantages of a system like Ekoro is that you can try different types of plants – from cuttings, seedlings and seeds . You can start a “mini farm” with herbs or test which types you like the most.
Summary
Hydroponics doesn't have to be a science. Just check the water, light and clean the system from time to time. Ekoro is designed to make your work easier and your plants always have ideal conditions.
Fresh herbs, fragrant basil, and crisp salad – you can do it all even without a garden. 🌱
